What garden artificial grass is
Garden artificial grass is a tufted synthetic carpet designed to look and feel like a natural lawn. UV-stabilised polyethylene fibres are tufted into a primary backing and fixed with a perforated latex or polyurethane coating, then supplied in 2 m or 4 m rolls that installers lay over a prepared, compacted base. Unlike sports turf, a garden lawn is designed mainly for appearance and comfort: soft blades, a realistic colour mix and often a curled polypropylene “thatch” yarn near the base that helps the blades stand up and hides the backing.
It suits homeowners who want a green lawn without irrigation, mowing or fertiliser, and it is popular in dry climates, shaded yards where real grass struggles, rooftops and small urban gardens. For distributors, it is usually the highest-volume line in an artificial turf range. See the full artificial grass carpet range for other product groups.
How buyers specify garden artificial grass
When you request a quotation, these are the variables that define the product:
- Pile height – 25–35 mm looks most natural; 20 mm is easier to maintain. The pile height guide explains typical choices.
- Dtex and density – 8,000–12,000 Dtex with 200–320 stitches/m and 3/8 inch or 5/8 inch gauge determines how full and durable the lawn feels.
- Yarn and colour mix – polyethylene blades, sometimes with a polypropylene thatch. Many garden turfs blend two greens with a brown or olive thatch for a realistic look.
- Backing and drainage – perforated latex or PU coating with drainage holes so rainwater does not pool.
- Roll size – 2 m or 4 m width; 20 m or 25 m length. Wider rolls mean fewer seams; narrower rolls are easier to handle.
Where it is used
Typical projects include private lawns, villa gardens, children’s play corners, pet runs, rooftop terraces, poolside areas and hotel or residential complex landscaping. For larger planned green areas, see artificial grass landscaping. Many villa owners combine a synthetic lawn with privacy screening; our villa garden fencing page shows how grass fence and turf work together.
Made in Turkey for export markets
CEYTO YAPI has worked in artificial grass products in Türkiye since 2002. Producing in Turkey lets buyers in Europe, the Middle East, North Africa and Central Asia source from a supplier with direct sea access through Istanbul’s ports and road routes to Europe. You can combine garden grass, sports turf and grass fence rolls in one shipment, which helps smaller importers fill a container with a mixed range.
