Types of sports facilities we supply
Synthetic surfaces are used in a wide range of facilities, each with different priorities and budgets:
- Football and mini-football pitches – rental pitches, club training grounds and five-a-side venues, where durability under heavy use matters most.
- Multi-sport areas – courts shared by football, basketball and general play, often in parks and housing estates.
- School fields and playgrounds – where a softer, safe surface and low upkeep are the priorities.
- Hotel and resort sports areas – small pitches where appearance is as important as performance.
For football-specific turf details, see our football artificial turf product page.
Choosing sports field artificial grass
The main specification choices are pile height, yarn type and Dtex, stitch density and infill system. In general, taller piles with sand and rubber infill suit competitive football, while shorter, denser turf suits multi-sport courts and school areas where several activities share the surface. Our artificial grass pile height guide explains these trade-offs.
| Facility | Typical priority | Product |
|---|---|---|
| Football / mini-football pitch | Durability, ball roll, player safety | Football artificial turf |
| Multi-sport court | Versatility, lower pile | Football artificial turf, shorter pile option [TODO: available pile heights] |
| Perimeter and spectator areas | Screening, appearance | Grass fence panel |

Perimeter screening and surroundings
Sports pitches are usually enclosed by mesh fencing. Adding grass fence panels to the lower section of that fence screens the pitch from the street, reduces wind-blown dust and gives the facility a greener, more finished look. Panels are easy to replace if a section is damaged by balls or maintenance vehicles. On rental pitches next to residential streets, screening can also reduce complaints about floodlit evening games by blocking direct views into the facility. Around changing rooms, entrances and seating areas, landscaping turf from the artificial grass range can complete the site.
Project considerations for contractors
- Confirm whether the client or local federation requires specific performance testing; ask us for available documentation: [TODO: test reports available].
- Plan the base construction (sub-base, drainage, shock pad if used) locally; the turf only performs as well as the base beneath it.
- Calculate roll quantities with line markings and joins in mind, and agree on whether lines are tufted in or inlaid on site.
- Order infill locally where possible to save freight weight.
- Allow spare turf for repairs in goalmouths and other high-wear zones, ideally from the same production batch.
- For school fields, check local requirements for impact absorption under play equipment and around the pitch edge.
